Starting Designer

To start Designer, select Start > All Programs > Infor Business Intelligence > Designer. The Connect to Infor BI Designer dialog opens.

Select the Designer database to work with from the Database drop-down list.

Select the authentication system from the Authentication drop-down list and specify the user name and password. If you select Windows as authentication type, the user information is automatically preset. To use this authentication type, the Windows user must exist in the User Management of the repository registration in Repository Administration to which the Designer database is connected.

Note: In Designer you can administer several Designer databases for different consolidation projects or other applications (planning, budgeting or forecasts). To specify the settings of the Designer database and the project, and to configure the OLAP model, select File > Settings from the menu.

The Designer user interface consists of three parts:

The tree elements (left) have shortcut menus that you use to create dimensions, subsets or cubes, and to delete structures.
In the main window (right) you see the contents of the elements that you select in the tree.
The status window (bottom) shows the progress, for example, during creation of OLAP models, and warnings or errors.

The tree contains the nodes Connector, Infor Financial Consolidation, and System.

Use Connector to configure the source systems and import structure and data. See the online help for the Connector.

In the node Infor Financial Consolidation you configure the consolidation model.

In the System node you administer users and configure OLAP rules for the OLAP models. You can add elements.
