Configuration in Designer

There is a configuration setting in the Consolidation Settings dialog on the Common Settings tab of Designer that enables the multi-level consolidation. When you select Enable from the Multi-level consolidation drop-down list, you are warned that all other configurations related to the standard consolidation of subgroups, and all related functionality will be disabled.

Caution: If you enable the multi-level consolidation, you cannot disable it. Also, the former consolidation of subgroups is automatically disabled and you cannot enable it again. After the multi-level consolidation is enabled, you must configure it properly to use the functionality.

When you update from a version that does not include the multi-level consolidation, Designer automatically updates your database schema and creates a new structure in the consolidation level dimension (dimension DGLEVEL). This structure is based on the group configuration and the elements below are based on the standard Consolidation element in the same dimension. A new element, with the ID Groups is created as a standard element that cannot be modified. Under the Groups element, a total for each group and subgroup is created. For each group, a corresponding structure under the total group rolls up each of the subgroups that directly roll up into the group.

The standard configuration is initially set up automatically and should not be changed unless you fully understand the consequences. In the standard configuration, only the automatic eliminations for consolidation of debts and consolidation of expenditures and revenue are rolled up. All other adjustments and corrections, the capital consolidation and other consolidations for the groups, are not considered.

To activate the options to consider other data as well, or to deactivate consideration of data that is already activated, use the activate attribute on the levels below the Consolidation element in the DGLEVEL dimension.
