General Ledger

The General Ledger application is the center of several other financial applications. It acts as a central repository for data from other applications such as Allocations, Budgeting, Currency, Attribute Matrix, Strategic Ledger, and Report Writer.

General Ledger is used to define the company structure and the chart of accounts structure that best meets your processing and reporting requirements.

You can use General Ledger to define, edit, release and post journal entries. Entries can be based on data in Infor Lawson or non-Lawson applications. You can also define recurring journal entries to automatically recur for transactions that repeat themselves on a regular basis.

General Ledger is also used to perform period close and year-end close processes. Some processes are performed behind-the-scenes, such as changing the status for a closing period and opening up a new period.
