Optimizing a formula using the Optimization Modeler
- Select Develop > Formula. The Formula form is displayed.
- Select the required formula.
Note: The formula class must be defined.
- Select the Run Optimization icon from the toolbar. The Launch Optimization window is displayed.
Note:
- During optimization, validations are performed for selected optimization data and configuration. If the required data or configuration is missing, an error message is displayed.
- The optimization process requires these validations:
- A parameter or item must be selected for optimization.
- The alias codes used in expression constraints must be valid.
- The density parameter must be defined in the formula and must have a unit of measure.
- The makeup ingredient objects must be enabled as a valid optimization participant.
- The cost and density parameters must contain PVALUE values for selected items.
- The referenced objects in sum, ratio, and makeup constraints must be valid and enabled for optimization participation.
- Select the required value in the Optimization Modeler field.
- Select the Run Initial Optimization check box.
- Click Start. The Run tab is displayed.
Note:
- The Run tab is displayed only if the Run Initial Optimization check box is selected.
- You can also use the Pre Optimization Calc and the Post Optimization Calc fields on the Main to pre-define the custom equations while performing the optimization process.
- If the Hide Unchanged rows check box is selected, the value specified in Ingredient and Parameter grids are compared with the values in the Runtab and the unchanged rows are hidden.
- You can modify the UOM field in the Item grid. The values in the Qty, Quantity Lo, Quantity Hi columns are populated from the value specified in the UOM field.
- You can modify the value in Qty% field in the Run tab to generate a runtime weight/weight % constraint for the ingredient.
- If an existing value in the Qty% field is modified, the constraint can be calculated using this formula ITEM.QTYMASS = QTY%/100 *(sum of item masses participating in optimization).
- You can select Sort by Cost option in the Optimization Filter field to sort the data on the Run tab in the descending order, based on the cost values of the cost parameter selected in the Optimization Modeler.
- The Items or Parameters are displayed in the Optimization Modeler window only if the Optimization Participant is set to Yes or Optional for the Item or Parameter specified on the Item Lines tab or Parameters tab in the Formula form. These items or parameters are selected by default if the Optimization Participant is set to Yes. However, you can modify this setting.
- The column totals are displayed in the summary row for all columns specified in the Formula.Ingr.Totalcolumns profile attribute if MATERIAL_PCT;QTY_MASS;QTY_VOL;ACTIVE_QUANTITY;RELQTY_PCT AND ATTRIBUTE1-50 values are included. If no values exist for the profile attribute, the application calculates sum of all the above mentioned columns.
- The Optimization Modeler uses the view selected in the Formula Item Lines grid. If you modify the column layout after selecting a view, an asterisk (*) appears next to the view which indicates user personalization. You can select Reset View to remove personalization and restore the original configuration.
- The sub formulas in Optimization Modeler can be expanded or collapsed in Item Lines grid. You can select the option corresponding to a subformula to display or hide ingredient lines.
- The Summary row displays total quantity for the items.
- Modify the required values.
- Click the Re-optimize icon. A new Run tab is displayed.
Note:
- If the Compare Results check box is selected, the result in the Run tabs is compared and displayed in these colours:
- Red: If the quantity is increased than the base quantity
- Green: If the quantity is decreased than the base quantity
- You can use the Delete option to remove the selected record.
- You can use the Swap to edit option to move the Run tab as Source Formula which then becomes an input for re-optimizing the formula.
- If the Compare Results check box is selected, the result in the Run tabs is compared and displayed in these colours:
- Click the Send result into Formula icon. The Confirm window is displayed.
- Click Yes. The confirmation message is displayed in the Alerts window.
- Click OK.
- Click the Perform Calculation icon to:
- Update the calculated from the Ingredients grid in the Optimization Modeler to the Item Lines tab on the Formula form.
- Update the calculated from the Parameters grid in the Optimization Modeler to the Parameters tab on the Formula form.
