Configuring the Lookup Set Restrictions tab
Use the Restrictions tab on the Lookup Set to specify when views and references appear on business objects. The Restrictions tab is available only for Lookup Sets that begin with the V\ or V\REF prefix.
The Lookup Restrictions are defined in the Reports tab and the References tab of the business object. These restrictions specify the views displayed in the Reports tab of the business object and the reference choices displayed in the References tab.
Restrictions are of two types: security and object related:
- The security-related restrictions include User, Group, and Role. These restrictions can be used to set the restriction.
- The object-related restrictions can be applied by class or set. These restrictions ensure that the lookup is visible only on business objects related to specific classes or specific sets.
You can create multiple types of restrictions for the same lookup. If a security restriction is applied to a lookup, object-level restriction such as a class or set restriction are not overridden.
If class and set restriction are defined for the same lookup, the lookup is displayed only when both conditions are true.
For example, if a view (lookup) for an item has restriction for class=finished goods and restrictions for sets include Bakery and Food. For an item where set=food, class=raw material, the view is not displayed for the item.
