Criteria: Difference methods

There are two difference methods: Absolute and Relative.

Absolute

This table shows how ingredients and parameters are compared for the Absolute method:

Ingredient Parameter
Here is an example that uses Weight% for the comparison.

Absolute Difference = the absolute value of (Base Weight% - Compared Weight%).

Suppose the compared Weight% is > base Weight% AND the Absolute Difference is > than the value in the Highlight Ingredient Quantity >% field; then the compared Weight% is BLUE.

Suppose the compared Weight% is < base Weight% AND the Absolute Difference is > the value in the Highlight Ingredient Quantity <% field; then the compared Weight% is RED.

Example

Highlight ingredient quantity < 5%.

Base Formula 10%.

Compared Formula 7%.

Difference = 10% - 7% = 3%.

Difference is not more than 5% less, therefore highlight is OFF.

Absolute Difference = (Base Parameter Value - Compared Parameter Value).

Suppose the compared parameter value is > base parameter value AND the Absolute Difference is > the value in the Highlight Parameter Quantity >% field; then the compared parameter value is BLUE.

Suppose the compared parameter value is < base parameter value AND the Absolute Difference is > the value in the Highlight Parameter Quantity <% field; then the compared parameter value is RED.

Example

Highlight parameter quantity < 35%.

Base Formula 5 mg/kg.

Compared Formula 3 mg/kg.

Difference = 5-3 = 2 mg/kg.

Difference is not more than 35% less; therefore the highlight is OFF.

Relative

This table shows how ingredients and parameters are compared for the Relative method:

Ingredient Parameter
Applies to all ingredient quantity types.

For example, for Mass Qty,

Relative Difference = [ absolute value of (Base Mass Qty - Compared Mass Qty) / Base Mass Qty ] * 100.

Suppose the compared Mass Qty is > base Mass Qty AND the Relative Difference > the value in the Highlight Ingredient Quantity >% field; then the compared Mass Qty is BLUE.

Suppose the compared Mass Qty is < base Mass Qty AND the Relative Difference is > than the value in the Highlight Ingredient Quantity <% field; then the compared Mass Qty is RED.

Example

Highlight ingredient quantity < 5%

Base Formula 10.

Compared Formula 7.

Difference = [(10-7)/10] x 100 = 30%.

Difference is more than 5% less, therefore highlight is RED.

Relative Difference =[ absolute value of (Base Parameter Value - Compared Parameter Value) / Base Parameter Value ] * 100.

Suppose the compared parameter value is > base parameter value AND the Relative Difference is > the value in the Highlight Parameter Quantity >% field; then the compared parameter value is BLUE.

Suppose the compared parameter value is < base parameter value AND the Relative Difference is > the value in the Highlight Parameter Quantity <% field; then the compared Parameter value is RED.

Example

Highlight parameter quantity < 35%

Base Formula 5 mg/kg

Compared Formula 3 mg/kg.

Difference = [(5-3)/5] x 100% = 40%.

Difference is more than 35% less, therefore the highlight is RED.
