Creating the parameter
You can create parameters with the Parameter Type
UOM Conversion Factor or Variable
UOM to process weight-based rollups.
Creating a parameter with the UOM Conversion Factor parameter type
You can create a parameter with the UOM Conversion
Factor parameter type. The UOM Conversion Factor
parameter type works with two different UOM types, such as mass and Volume (Density) or mass and count UOMs. You must
create a parameter with the UOM Conversion Factor parameter
type if you are using a count UOM on material items.
A UOM Conversion Factor parameter type is
appropriate when you are doing a basic pack conversion. Item units can default to a count type UOM with the UOM Conversion
Factor parameter type.
- Create the parameter in the Parameter form.
- Specify a description for the parameter.
- Select UOM Conversion Factor from the Parameter Type list.
- Select a
massUOM (e.g. g, ounce, kg, etc) in the UOM Extend list. - Select a
countUOM (e.g. each) in the Per UOM list. - Assign the parameter to the lab as a rollup parameter.
- Set up Items. Enter unit weight for each item to be handled as count type.
- You can assign a count UOM or mass UOM value for the item and enter
the weight value for the
UOM Conversion Factorparameter. - Add the item to the Formula > Item Lines tab. Keep the default UOM or specify a count UOM in the UM field.
Creating a parameter with the Variable UOM parameter type
You can create a parameter with the Variable
UOM parameter type.
Do not use a Variable UOM parameter type
with a count UOM on Items if you will be using the
Ingredient Statement module. The Variable UOM parameter cannot be selected as the base unit of
measure.
If you must create multiple conversions such as cups sliced and cups shredded, use the Variable UOM parameter type.
- Create the parameter in the Parameter form.
- Specify a description for the parameter. You must specify a unique description. The description cannot be a duplicate of any UOM description since users will only see descriptions in the droplist.
- Select Variable UOM from the Parameter Type list.
- Select a
massUOM (e.g. g, ounce, kg, etc) in the UOM Extend list. - Keep the value in the Per UOM list blank. You do not need to select a value.
- Assign the parameter to the lab as a rollup parameter.
- Set up Items. Assign a mass UOM value for the item and enter the
weight values for the
Variable UOMparameters. - Add the item to the Formula >
Item Lines tab. The Variable
UOM parameter does not appear automatically. You must select the
Variable UOMparameter UOM for the item.
