Example of multiple rules

This ingredient statement has two rules.

  1. When you click Apply Rules, the list of ingredients on the formula(s) is read by Optiva.

  2. Then, Optiva searches the first rule that is listed in the Ingredient Statement for these ingredients.
    • The primary rule, BBQ Sauce Rule, provides the format for the entire label.

    • The Ingredients tab provides the format for the Honey BBQ and Tomato Paste ingredients.

  3. Because the Special Seasoning is not an item on the BBQ Sauce rule, Optiva continues searching the next rule on the Ingredient Statement. In this example, the next rule is the Never Explode rule. This rule has two ingredients: Honey BBQ Sauce and Seasoning.

Because the primary rule already provided the format for Honey BBQ Sauce, Optiva ignores the formatting on the Never Explode rule for this item. Only the formatting for Special Seasoning is used.

  4. The Ingredient Statement Preview results are shown here.

The label sections are formatted using the primary rule.

The ingredients are formatted using both the BBQ Sauce rule and the Never Explode rule.

The BBQ Sauce rule overrides the formatting for the Honey BBQ Sauce ingredient.

The Never Explode rule is used only to format Seasoning.
