Overview

Child ingredient statements enable you to assign more than one rule to an ingredient statement. That way, you can control how sub-ingredients are formatted on the ingredient statement. You can also use the same child ingredient statement in more than one ingredient statement.

Child ingredient statements are created in the Ingredient Statement form. They have their own:

• Formula assignments
• List of ingredients
• Ingredient statement rule

They are no different from a regular ingredient statement except that they:

• Do not typically show section statuses or section titles.
• Are called by another rule for use in another ingredient statement.

In this example, the child ingredient statement for Milk Chocolate is called by the Candy Bar rule. The Candy Bar rule produces the ingredient statement for the Candy Bar.

There is no limit to the number of child ingredient statements that can be assigned to a rule. Different child ingredient statements can be applied to each item in the rule.
