Configuring the database connection strings

Using PLM Process Configuration, you can configure your PLM Process database connection strings for SQL Server and Oracle. You must use the Database Connection Source button on the Database Connection page to connect to the Configuration Database.

  1. Start PLM Process Configuration by specifying this URL path: http://<server>/FsOptivaConfig.
  2. Select Database Configuration.
  3. Click New in the Database Connection Source section.
  4. Specify SQL Server or Oracle in the New Connection dialog.

  5. Click OK. The Connection dialog is displayed.

  6. Specify this information in the SQL Server Connection or Oracle Connection dialog.
    1. Specify the name of the SQL server and SQL database. For Oracle, specify the data source.
    2. Specify the User ID and Password. This is the user who has access to SQL Server or Oracle to create the Optiva database. Specify DBO in the User Role field. The Admin and Description fields are for informational use only. Leave the Status field at Active. You can specify information in these three fields and it will not effect the database connection.
    3. Click Test to verify that the database connection is valid.
    4. Click OK. The database connection string is configured to the configuration database and is displayed in the Database Connection Source section.
  7. Click Confirm.
    To add Optiva database connections, click Add New Connection in the Database Connections section. Specify the connections in the Import/Export section. See Adding connections.
