Guideline Check - field descriptions
Overview
Using this page, you can perform a guideline check for a single formula or multiple formulas in one operation.
Guidelines are instruction-type comments for manufacturing or regulatory rules that restrict the manufacturing and selling of products. They specify the context in which a restriction applies, for example, countries, end users, brands, and so forth.
Main tab
Here, you select the formulas that are to be used in the guideline check.
When you click Check Guidelines, the check begins with the first formula in the grid and sequentially searches for each formula in the list until the guideline check is complete.
- Description
- Shows the description of the formula.
- Formula Code/Version
-
Specify the formulas that are to be used in the guideline check.
Context tab
Here, you specify the criteria for the guideline check and how to display the results. The formula’s context attributes are displayed automatically. The context criteria are considered first and then the display options filter the results.

-
Specify the criteria that will be matched to the guidelines. The guidelines must have either the exact same criteria or Match All for the context. Match All is defined in the Item Guideline & Restrictions and Parameter Guideline & Restrictions forms.
You can limit guidelines to only those that have these contexts by selecting the Limit Result check box.
- Context Type
- This column lists these context types:
- Selling Location
- Mfg. Location
- Brand
- Product Type
- End Use
- End User
- Exclude Statuses
-
You can exclude Item and Parameter Guidelines from consideration in a Guideline Check with the Exclude Statuses control. By default, no status codes are excluded from a guideline check.
Status codes can be assigned in the Item Guidelines and Restrictions or Parameter Guidelines and Restrictions form, or by a Workflow Script.
- Include Context
-
By default, all context categories are selected. You can deselect the categories you wish to exclude from the guideline check.
If all check boxes are cleared, nothing is returned. At least one context check box must be selected.
If a check box is cleared, the previously entered values are not cleared, but those values are ignored in the guideline check.
If the check box is selected and there are no values in the Context Attributes column, any values in the guidelines are valid to return the guideline.
If the check box is selected and there are values in the Context Attributes column, guidelines with at least one of these specific values or ALL are returned.
- Limit Result to Guidelines with Explicitly Defined Context Attributes
-
Returns only the guidelines that include at least one value from the selected context attributes.
Guidelines that exclude those context attribute value(s) are not returned.-
The Match Listed choice can be used with this setting.
-
Match All should not be used because it is less restrictive than the Limit Result option.
