Global Calculation
Global Calc can be run any of these ways:
Ways to run Global Calc | Reference topics |
---|---|
Global Calc form | See Running Global Calc in Optiva. |
Command line interface | See Running Global Calc from the command line. |
Task Scheduler | See Setting up the Scheduler. |
For all parameters in a specified lab, Global Calc pulls the parameter values from items for the formula and calculates the formula. Formulas at all levels of the hierarchy can be calculated; and their parameter values can be rolled up to their parent formulas.
Global Calc can replicate the manual process of opening each formula, from the bottom to the top of the hierarchy. See the Infor PLM for Process NPDI User Guide for more information on manually calculating (i.e., rolling up).
Users notify their Optiva administrator when a Global Calc is required.
- A raw material has been replaced.
- A parameter value in an item has changed.
- An equation that is used to derive a parameter has changed.
Separate server process
The Global Calc process executes on an instance of the Optiva Server, either on a separate actual or virtual machine.
Asynchronous process
A Global Calc process runs in a separate thread and can respond to user requests such as to be stopped before it completes. The status of the process can be determined at any time.
