UOMs can be converted

Units of measure can be converted according to the size requirements of a formula. For example, in an experimental formula, small quantities are sufficient for the batch size. In this case, a mass unit of measure can be milligram. For production purposes, the UOM must be increased to reflect a larger quantity, such as kilogram. Units of measure convert within the same conversion type, such as:

• Mass

• Count
• Time

Sometimes a formula can use a rollup unit of measure such as mass or volume during development and a count unit of measure for packaging. Units of measure can convert between different conversion types, such as: Count to Mass and Count to Volume.
