Completing tasks early or late
You can complete a task before or after its original due date. The start and end dates for the remaining open tasks can be recalculated for you. This recalculation occurs only if the Full Elasticity check box is selected in the Action Set form. You do not have to click .
Suppose the Full Elasticity check box is not selected, and a task is completed earlier or later than its current Due Date. Then, the Start Date and the Due Date are recalculated only for the next open task.
- The next open task gets an Actual Start Date set to today's date. The Due Date is recalculated based on the task duration.
- All other upstream tasks are not recalculated at this
time. There are two caveats:
- The task that depends on the completed task will start now, instead of the original start date. So, the task displays as if it has been recalculated.
- If multiple tasks depend on the completed task, those open tasks all start now. Those open tasks display as if they have been recalculated.
The Elasticity functionality in the Action Set form is not relevant for skipped tasks. When you skip a task, it is ignored by the system.
