Assigning object security to roles

If you are writing your own programs to access Optiva data through the Application Server layer, default object security does not apply. In this case, the object security, that you apply through the role, is your means of controlling access to the data.

But this security has an effect even in the normal course of operation, with the user interface in place.

See Scenarios for opening objects and attempting actions.

  1. Select the Object Security tab in the Role form.
  2. Specify a security level for each object for the role.
  3. Allow the least restrictive security to the role, as if all the users are owners of the object. Later, when you define security for specific formulas and items, you can increase the security for users who are not the owners. Assign at least read/copy privileges to permit users to read an object.
