Creating a search for items

You must limit the number of items to use in the Global Calc process by creating an Item Search.

You can specify a single item or a subset of items. For example, you can search for only the items that have parameter values within a specified range.

Also, a default search for items is provided, but you can create your own to use instead.
  1. Open the Search Item lookup list.
  2. Click Create New Object.
  3. Specify a description for the Item Search.
  4. Specify search criteria. You are not required to enable Quick Search to create an Item Search for Global Calc.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Search to test your criteria. The search results are displayed in the Search Results tab. Now, you can use this search object in a Global Calc run.
Note: Manufacturing Items that have a Master Formula should not be included in the Global Calc. If included, an error could be trapped for each item, since parameter values cannot be saved to such items. The Search criteria should be set up to exclude these items and any others you would not want to include in calculations. In addition, equations that calculate parameter values on Items should be scripted to exclude updating these items, which will also avoid these errors.
