Creating a parameter

  1. Open the Parameter form.
  2. Specify these criteria.
    Parameter Type
For a description of the different types of parameters, see Types of parameters.
    Calc Ind
0 = all calc for regular parameters

3 = Test Condition for parameters to be used for test conditions.

Other values are not yet implemented.

    Equation Indicator
Specify an equation type if an equation is being used for the parameter.
    Equation Code
Equations are used to derive a parameter from other parameters or to invoke alert messages. See Attaching an equation to a parameter and Creating an equation.
    Missing Values
    • Rollup as null - A field with no value is rolled up as empty (null). A formula, that contains an item with this parameter, has no value for the parameter. Parameters that are set to rollup missing values as null are temporarily set to zero during advanced adjustment.
    • Rollup as zero - A field with no value is rolled up as zero. A formula, that contains an item with this parameter, rolls up as zero from the item.
    • Rollup as null, Combine as zero - This choice determines how ingredient parameters that have a null value are rolled up on the formula. See Scenarios for Rollup as null, Combine as zero.
    Query
Click the Lookup to select an Enum Query for the parameter. The Lookup is enabled when you select Enum for the Set Indicator droplist and Enum Query for the Indicator droplist.
    UOM Extend
The UOM of the parameter. For 4=Weight% if this value is not % and the Per UOM is not blank, the type is changed to 7=Unit Activity. This does not affect the values that are calculated. The UOMs are displayed on the Formula, Items and Projects instead of %.
    Per UOM
Per unit of measure (UOM) of the item or formula. The parameter can be measured per unit of formula (i.e.,, a UOM ratio parameter type). In this case, select the unit of measure for the parameter and per unit of measure for the formula. For example, cost can be measured in dollars per KG of formula; density can be measured in KG per LB.

If you do not specify a per unit of measure, Optiva uses the unit of measure of the formula yield by default.

    Attribute
    Use for additional attribute values.
    Change History
This field is used in conjunction with the Change History feature. Use this field to specify how much information to track in Change History for the parameter. You can track only the manual overrides to the parameter value; or you can track both the manual overrides and the calculated values.

By default, only manual overrides to the parameter value are displayed in the Change History tab of the object form.

    See Change History.

    GS1 Param Code

    Specify the GS1 Param Code.

    GS1 Param Description
    Specify the GS1 Param Description.
  3. Specify the minimum and the maximum ranges or enumerations for the parameter. This table shows the appropriate values for the Set Indicator.
    Set indicator value Description
Any Specify these data types: Long (integer), Double (decimal), String, Date, Boolean.
MinMax Specify Long or Double for the Data Type.

Specify the minimum and maximum allowable values in the Min and Max fields.

Enum Specify String for the Data Type.

specify a query in the Enum Query field.

Select a value from the Enum Val list.

Select a single or multi-value lookup or drop-list for the Style.
