Calculating the sub-formulas and roll up values

Changing a cost or rollup parameter value in the Item form can effect formulas that reference the item. If an item is a sub-formula, then the formula’s parameters are calculated from the items of the sub-formula.

If a parameter in a sub-formula is overridden, this value is used in the higher-level formula instead of the original item’s parameter value.

In the parent Formula form, you can rollup the latest parameter values by calculating all sub-formulas. In the Sidebar, click Calculate All.

In this example, the Butter item is used in a sub-formula and that sub-formula is used in another parent formula.

If a change to a lower level formula impacts its parameter values, Calculate All recalculates all lower-level formulas. Calculate All also rolls up the new values to the higher level formulas.
