Simple Search

Using the Search field in the Home page, you can search for objects in Optiva.

This is a Google-type search that uses codes and descriptions as the search criteria. By default, all of the object types that match the criteria are displayed in the results. Objects are not returned if you do not have permission to open them.

Suppose you specify chicken as the search criteria. The results can include items, formulas, and projects with the word chicken in the object code or object description.

Specifying the search criteria

  • You can include or exclude quotation marks from the search strings.
  • The search strings that are to be included in the results cannot begin with a dash (-).
  • The search strings that are to be excluded from the results must begin with a dash (-).
  • To restrict your search criteria to certain symbols, specify symbol: followed by the desired symbol.
  • For objects with versions, only an exact match of object code\version will be returned from the search. Exclude is not supported with searches that include a version. For example, if you perform a search for a symbol with formula FS-001\0001, only a formula with the formula code FS-001 and version 0001 will be displayed (if it exists).

For example, if you perform a search for a symbol and formula FS-001\0001, formulas with formula code FS-001 and version 0001 will be displayed.

After you execute the search, you can use the Page Size field to change the number of results per page. Whenever you execute a new search, the default value of 10 is restored.
