Rule segments and methods
The Create Rules feature of Optiva consists of two parts: Auto Code Segments and Copy Methods.
The two parts of the Rule are assembled on the Create Rules form. Both Auto Code Segments and Copy Methods are optional. You can decide to create a Rule that contains only Auto Code Segments, only Copy Methods, or both.
- Auto Code Segments are the segments of the code name.
For example, this formula code:
COLOR.037-BLUE-CS\001
consists of five Auto Code Segments. - Copy Methods are the scripts that instruct Optiva to change or omit a property of the new object. That way, the new object differs from a traditional new or copied object. For example, 90% of new formulas in your company have value X for a parameter. The default record contains X for the parameter so that each new formula has the parameter pre-filled. For the 10% of new formulas that have a different value, you use a Copy Method to enter a different value. When users create a new object, they select the Copy Method.
