Filter - field descriptions

Fields are presented in the order that they are presented in a form. Click a link to see the field descriptions for the form.

Overview

This page defines the criteria that will be used for a filter. For example, you can create a filter that will be used to display a subset of:
  • parameters
  • document attachments
  • workflow tasks

When you configure filters, you decide who will have access to them. In other words, filters can be configured to be used only by specific labs, roles, or users. Or, they can be used system-wide.

Main tab

Here, you define general information about the filter.

Global Filter

Select this check box to enable the filter system-wide. In this case, every lab, role, and user will be able to use this filter.

Label
Enter the text that will appear in the Filter drop list.
Security

Select the level of access privileges to the filter.

Currently, filter security applies only to function codes.

If you have more than one filter for function codes, the least restrictive security applies. For example, if the NOTE function code has read/copy privileges for one global filter and read/copy/write privileges for another global filter, then read/copy/write security will be applied.

Lab tab

Here, you indicate which labs will use the filter. Leave this grid blank if you selected the Global Filter check box.

Lab Code

Specify a lab code. This entry overrides the Role and User selections.

Roles tab

Here, you indicate which labs will use the filter. Leave this grid blank if you selected the Global Filter check box.

Role Code

Specify a role code. This entry overrides the User selection.

User tab

Here, you indicate which labs will use the filter. Leave this grid blank if you selected the Global Filter check box.

User Code
Specify a user code.

Tasks tab

If the filter is not going to be used for Pending Tasks, you can leave this grid blank.

All Tasks

Select this check box if you want this filter to apply to all of the workflow tasks. Only the Custom View Code field will be available for selection. The other task choices will not be available.

Custom View Code

Select the custom view layout that will be used when this filter is selected in the Pending Tasks grid. Your administrator configures these custom view layouts.

Document Codes tab

By default, all function (document) codes that are assigned to an object (in the Symbol page) will appear to users. You can use this tab to limit the function codes that will display for a specific object.

Function Code

Select a function code from the list. Function codes represent the documentation that is assigned to an object.

Object Symbol
Select a symbol from the list.

Parameters tab

Use this tab to define the parameter criteria for the filter. In the Parameters grid, specify the parameters to include in the filter.

Display UM

Shows the parameter ’s unit of measure.

If this entry is blank, then the unit of measure in the Parameter form will be used when the filter is selected.

If you enter an alternate unit of measure here, that value will be used when the filter is selected.

Param Code
Specify a parameter code.

Parameters > Symbols tab

The Parameters > Symbols grid controls when the filter will either be shown or hidden in the object’s Parameters grid. Here, you designate object/set code combinations.

For example, if you want the filter to appear for formulas that have a set code of PIZZA, then select List of Enabled Symbols and Formula from the Object Symbol list and PIZZA from the Set Code list.

To hide formulas that have a set code of PIZZA, select List of Disabled Symbols and Formula from the Object Symbol list and PIZZA from the Set Code list.

Mode
Mutually exclusive choices:
  • List of Enabled Symbols - identifies the object/set code combinations that will be used as the criteria for displaying the filter in the object’s Parameters grid.

  • List of Disabled Symbols - identifies the list of object set/code combinations that will be used as the criteria for hiding the filter in the object’s Parameters grid.
