Adding master formulas to formulas
Using direct or indirect nesting, you can add formulas as ingredients to other formulas. This table shows you how to complete the task:.
Nesting Method | Description |
---|---|
Indirect | Use the master formula in another formula by
assigning an item code to it in the
Mfg. Item field.
Select Master Formula and then add the item code to another formula.
For example, assign an item code to the pizza sauce formula and add the item to the formula for pizza. |
Direct | Use a master formula as an item in another
formula by selecting its formula code in the Formula Code column on the
Item Lines tab.
A master formula must have a manufacturing item that is assigned to it. |
- If an item code is in the Mfg. Item field when attempting to create a new item, the new item is a copy of the original.
- If you do not see the Create Item dialog, but the Item form opens with an item code, the system administrator has configured a rule code. The rule code has generated a new item name.
The item code is created, save the formula after adding the Mfg. Item to see the formula parameter values in the item.
You can open a manufacturing item in the Item form. Select the Reports tab to see all formulas that are assigned to this item code.
