Deriving values for input fields
In the Optiva web client, derived fields can reduce the amount of manual data entry. Where the relationship between values is always one-to-one, the value of one input field can determine the entry in another. In other words, a field’s value can be derived from another field.
For example, if the flavor of ice cream is vanilla, the color must be white. The color is derived from the flavor. When the flavor is specified by the user, an associated value for the color field is specified by Optiva.
- Primary field controls the entry in a dependent field according to a pre-defined association. Values are entered manually in the primary field.
- Dependent field derives its value from a value in a primary field.
