Parameter calculations for formulas

In Optiva, parameters are calculated in a hierarchical fashion. Many parameters of a formula are calculated or pulled from the parameters of its items. Some of these items can be sub-formulas or intermediate formulas, which calculate their parameter values from other items.

Altering the amounts of any item in a formula can effect the formula parameter values. When you click the Calculate button, any changes to those item amounts are updated and the formula parameter values are recalculated automatically. Calculation occurs whenever you save a formula. Sometimes, calculations are based on associated equations.
