Assigning general information
You can assign general information to the item.
- Open the Item form.

Specify this criteria.
- Break Code
- Optional. Specify how line breaks are formatted in spreadsheets and parameter equations.
- Calculation Type

Select when the item is to be calculated. The choices are:
- All calc - Always calculate the item.
- Cost only - Calculate only for costs.
- Tech only - Calculate only for parameters.
- No calc - Never calculate the item.
Most items use the default Calculation Type, which is All calc.
- Component Type
- Select the type of item, such as an instruction, a cost, or a material.
- Extension fields
- You might see some fields that are not described here. These are extension fields that have been defined by the system administrator. They capture more details.
- Ingredient Statement Formula
- This is only used for ingredient statements.
- Item Class
- Select the purpose of the item. For example, liquid, solid, or gas. The choices that are available for selection are defined in the C_ITEMCLASS enumerated list.
- Primary UOM
- Select the item’s unit of measure (UOM), such as pounds (LB), gallons (GAL), or kilograms (KG). You can select a standard unit of measure for the item. But when adding this item to a formula, specify amounts of this item using other units. The conversion is handled by the system.
- Select the primary unit of measure for the item. At the item level, the unit of measure Each is the smallest unit of the item. At the formula level, Each means the whole formula.
- Scale Type

Select the method for scaling items. The choices are:
- Linear
- No Scaling
- Auto Adjust to Total
- Equal Adjust to Total
Most items use the default scale type, which is Linear.
- Threshold
- This is only used for ingredient statements.

- Creation Date
- Created By
- Modify Date
- Modified By
The choices that are available for the Status and Approval field are defined by the system administrator in the Symbol form.
