Overview

Ingredient statements provide the list of ingredients that are shown on a product label. Using the Ingredient Statement and Ingredient Statement Rule forms, you determine:

  • Which formula is used to produce the statement text.
  • The amount of information that is shown in the statement.
  • How the information is organized in the statement.

For example, you can assign ingredients to sections and subsections, include or exclude ingredients, and control the sort order of the ingredients.

The Label Content object is used to organize the information that is related to the product label. The label includes this information:

  • Ingredient statements from formulas.
  • Nutrition values from parameter analyses, such as per serving calculations and recommended daily values.
  • Claim text, nutritional or non-nutritional, based on regulatory rules or otherwise substantiated
  • Additional free-form text statements from label content. Here are some examples.
    • Do not purchase if the carton is open or torn.
    • Store the unopened carton at room temperature.
    • Promptly refrigerate any unused portion.
    • Better if used by the date on the bottom of the carton.

The interaction of the Label Content components is shown here.

Use a mechanism such as reports or an interface to create the output from the label content data.
