Generating statements in different languages

You can create an ingredient statement that shows text in different languages. For example, you can use French text for chocolate and sugar and English text for butter.

For this example, let’s use the Chocolate item. (If you have Item Groups, the assignment process in the Item form is the same. There are some differences in how the correct group label is selected by Optiva if there is more than one label for the group.

  1. Open the Label tab in the Item form.
  2. Specify two rows for the Chocolate item.
    1. Select EN and FR for the Language.
    2. Select BAKERY for the Label Category. (This column is optional.)
    3. Specify the text for the label in the Label field.
  3. Repeat the process for the Sugar item, except leave the Label Category field blank.
  4. Create one label text for the Butter item.
  5. Assign your items to the BROWNIE MIX formula.
  6. Add your items to the Ingredients tab in the Ingredient Statement Rule form. For this example, enter some text into the Statement Text field, too.
  7. Create the ingredient statement. Then, select the language or language and category combination that matches one of the item’s combinations.
    1. Add the Brownie Mix formula to the ingredient statement.
    2. Click Apply Rules.

    The results are shown here.

The French text is displayed in the ingredient statement for both chocolate and sugar because French labels were already defined for those items.

There is no French label or French/Bakery label combination defined in the Item form for Butter. Consequently, the statement text for Butter is used.

If there is no statement text, the Type Indicator for the rule is used.

If the Type Indicator is blank, the Item’s description (i.e., Butter) is used not the Label description (i.e., Premium Brand Butter).
