Overview

You can create phrases that inform consumers of safety regulations and potentially hazardous materials.

Some examples of phrases are:
  • “highly flammable”
  • “toxic if swallowed”
  • “may cause cancer”

In Optiva, these phrases are associated with certain types of parameters.

(The parameters must have a validation data type of Phrase.)

For each code that you define in the Phrase form, you can specify a category, such as Risk, Safety, or Hazard, and you can assign a precedence number.

Set codes are used to classify the phrase.

The precedence number is useful when there is more than one phrase assigned to the parameters on a formula. For example, one parameter warns against exposure to the skin and another parameter warns against exposure to the skin and eyes. The phrase that is assigned the highest precedence number is printed on the consumer reports.
