Defining a company

Companies can be internal and external. For example, the formulation site can be part of a larger parent company that has other sites for testing and manufacturing. Supplies can come from an internal supply site or an external vendor.

  1. Open the Company form.
  2. Specify the general information.
    Class
    Optional. Select a class code from the list:
    • Customer
    • Vendor
    • Testing
    • Manufacturing
    • Other
    Company Type
    Specify a type: internal or external organization.
    GLN Number
    Specify the Global Location Number.
    Parent Company
    Optional. Specify a parent company to associate with the company. You can view the genealogy of parents and children by clicking Genealogy.
    Parent Description
    Shows the description of the selected parent company.
    Company Indicator

    Specify the function(s) that the company performs.

    • Customer
    • Manufacturing - manufactures your products.
    • Vendor
    • Testing - tests your products.
    • Other - has another role.

    The display for each Company Indicator type can be configured with its own template. This is accomplished by assigning each type to a corresponding class.
