Symbols to extend objects

Symbols represent classes of Optiva objects, such as a formula, specification, parameter and item. Objects are instances of symbols. For example, you can create a pizza sauce formula called PIZZA_SAUCE\0001 which is an object based on the Formula symbol.

When you look up objects, you see only one symbol type that is appropriate to the context. For example, only items can be entered on the Item Lines tab.
