Adapting the item or parameter guideline
During a guideline check, the guidelines that match the criteria in the guideline check are compared to the formula. The guidelines whose values match the formula are displayed.
- Open the Item Guidelines and Restrictions or the Parameter Guidelines and Restrictions Lookup.

Click Create New Object.
Optionally, click Save As to create a guideline from another guideline.
- Specify the Item Code or Parameter Code.
- Click OK.

Specify this criteria.
- Additional Text

Add additional text and variables. This entry is optional.
- Brand
- Specify the brand.
- Customer
- Specify a customer. The customer the formula is developed for. It is assigned on the formula reference.
- End Use
- Specify the end use.
- Informational Only

Specify if the guideline is only informational. In this case, the guideline can be filtered from guideline checks.
- Item Code

Specify an item code that this guideline is being created for.
You can assign a guideline to a group of items. The guideline then applies to all items that are members of the group.
Select the item that has the same name as the item group name. Use the Additional Text field to notify users that this guideline is for an item group, not a specific item.
- Mfg Location
- Specify the manufacturing location.
- Match
- Specify values for the context attribute. The
guideline check returns the guidelines if the attributes in the guideline
check match the attributes that are specified here:
- Match All - All attributes are matches.
- Match Listed - Any listed attributes are matches.
- Do Not Match Listed - Any attributes except those listed are matches.
- Manufacturing
- Specify the manufacturer. External manufacturing companies who provide co-packing or manufacturing services. It is assigned on the formula reference.
- Other

Specify a generic company. It is assigned on formula references.
- Parameter Code

Specify a parameter code that this guideline is being created for.
- Product Type
- Specify the product type.
- Selling Location
- Specify the selling location.
- Source

Specify the user group to associate with the guideline (defaults to the current user’s group).
- Standard Guideline

Select a standard guideline.
- Status

Specify the status of the guideline. You can exclude Item or Parameter Guidelines from consideration with the Exclude Statuses control in the Guideline Check form.
- Testing
- Specify the external testing companies who provide external testing services. They are assigned on the formula reference.
- Value Type
- Specify the Value Type for the
(&Value)
variable used in the guideline.- Any Quantity - Minimum and maximum are not required.
- Above Max (exclusive) - Minimum is required.
- Between Min and Max (inclusive) - Minimum and maximum are required.
- Below Min (exclusive) - Minimum is required.
- Not Between Min and Max (exclusive) - Minimum and maximum are required.
Item values are Qty percentages. Parameter values are actual values.
- Vendor
- Specify the vendor. The vendors who provide ingredients. It is assigned on the item or formula reference.
