Item component types

Each item that you create in Optiva is assigned a component type. Some of these component types contribute to cost, but not to the rollup parameter or formula yield. Other component types do not contribute to the cost or rollup parameters nor to the formula yield.

This table shows a description of each component type:

Component Type Description
Material Manufacturing items that are produced in your company.
Raw Material

Basic ingredients used to create a formula. A formula from the vendor may or may not be linked to a raw material.

  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Syrup or spice blend
Packaging Items that hold or identify a product:
  • Bottles
  • Covers (cellophane)
  • Boxes
  • Labels
Process aid-discrete Items that help create a product but are not present in the final formula. They are measured using Count UOM.
  • Pizza tray
  • Bowl
Process aid-material Items that help create a product but are not present in the final formula.
  • Flour for dusting
  • Cooking grease to prevent sticking
Instructions Text used to inform a user of how to process a formula.
Grouping Set Creates an item to group related items that share information for Ingredient Statements and Guidelines and Restrictions.
Process, QC Test, and Overhead Cost Reserved for future use.
