Using the Optional check box
In the Action Set > Steps tab, the Optional check box is used to specify which steps are eligible to be skipped. In this example, Step 2 is eligible to be skipped.
Launch a workflow for an item and select this action set. Step 2 is marked as Optional by the system in the Launch Workflow > Assignment grid.
To skip step 2:
-
Select the
Skip check box.
-
Click
Start.
- Step 2 is skipped. Because step 2a and step 2b are children of step 2, they are skipped too. The skipped tasks are not shown in the Pending Tasks grid.
- The Start Date and Due Date are recalculated for step 3 and step 4. This calculation is performed and does not depend on the status of the Full Elasticity check box.
- Only step 1 is shown in the Pending Tasks grid.
- Step 3 and step 4 are not shown in the Pending Tasks grid. These steps are dependent upon the completion of the previous step (i.e., step 1 and step 3 respectively).
- If a task within a looping group has been skipped, then the task will remain in a skipped state.
In the Workflows In Progress form:
- Step 1 is the only task that has a status of In Process Queue.
- Step 2, 2a, 2b have a status of Ignore.
- Step 3 and 4 have a status of Not Started.
The Rcv Ind column is marked as skipped for Steps 2, 2a, and 2b.
