When to use directly nested formulas
Use directly nested formulas to preserve a unique relationship between a specific sub-formula and its container (i.e., higher level) formula.
- You can create a new version of a directly-nested sub-formula when the original sub-formula is directly nested in several container formulas. Open each container formula to replace the sub-formula. Then you can recalculate by clicking in the toolbar or by rolling up all formulas that contain the sub-formula.
- Guideline checks cannot be run against a directly nested sub-formula because that is not an item. Only the ingredients in the sub-formula are checked. Use indirectly nested formulas instead.
