Building the Trade Item Template

This chapter explains how to build a trade item template.

The Trade Item Template form provides a flexible way for administrators to define information that they want to capture and put in their GTIN to export to their data pool provider. You may include the GDSN data pool tags in the template in order to simplify the integration to your data pool providers network.

Each Trade Item Template has its own class and can also have their own layouts. Each template contains standard fields. When you add new fields to the Trade Item Template, these new fields are considered non-standard fields. Trade Item Templates support all standard functionality for business process management: security permissions, status-approvals, create rules, workflows, attachments to Document Management, and reporting.

You can use Save As to create and save multiple templates.

The GDSN Attribute column allows the administrator to define codes for export to data pools and build mapping directly into the templates for use in the Trade Item export. You can define the information as you build a template. PLM for Process provides basic templates. Use the Save As function to create new templates and make changes.

The Trade Item Template form supports multi-language captions, tool tips, the Configuration Transporter and exports.

You cannot delete a template once it has been used by a Trade Item. You also cannot remove fields or reduce the length of the field after use.
