Fields

This table shows the fields that are displayed in the Validation form.

Field Description
Call Ind Specify the type of validation for the field. The choices are:
  • none - no validation
  • callback - Calls the server object for validation
  • key - Validates according to what is listed in the Key Check column.
  • unused - Reserved for future implementation.
Case Force

Specify the final appearance of the text. The choices are:

  • No forcing - The text is displayed exactly as it was originally entered.
  • Unused - Reserved for future implementation.
  • Lower - The text is displayed in lowercase.
  • Upper - The text is displayed in uppercase.

    If users type the text in lowercase, but the Case Force value is Upper, then the final appearance of the text is changed to uppercase.

Char Check

Specify whether to validate entries as characters or numbers.

The choices are:

  • none - No character validation is performed.
  • alpha all - Ensures all characters are alphabetic.
  • alpha no punc - Ensures all characters are alphabetic with no punctuation. This choice is not implemented.
  • digits - Ensures all characters are numeric.
DB Name Read only.

Shows the name of the database column.

Dep Field Read only.

This number is assigned by Optiva. It indicates whether the field entry is dependent upon another entry.

Enum Code Select an enumeration code from the list. This entry is required when you specify these values:
  • Enum val list for the Enum Ind column
  • Droplist or Multi-value Droplist for the Enum Style column
Enum Ind Select the type of enumerated list.
  • none - no enumeration
  • enum query - Required when you specify a query in the Enum Query column.
  • lookup code - Required when you specify a lookup in the Lookup Code column.
  • enum val list - Required when you specify a value in the Enum Code column.

    Other selections in this column are reserved for future implementation.

Enum Label Ind Required when you specify a value in the Enum Code column. The choices are:
  • none - Use the default language code.
  • lang dependent - Use the appropriate language.
Enum Query

Click the Lookup to select an enumeration query.

Enum Style Specify the style of the enumerated list. The choices are None, Checkbox, Date, Lookup, Droplist, Multi-value Lookup, Multi-value Droplist, Multi-value Date and Multi-value Keyed.
Field Name Read only. Shows the name of the column that corresponds to the name in the DB Name field.
Field No Read only. Shows the field number that is assigned by Optiva to the column.
Format Code Specify how to format the displayed numbers. Use # for the number of places and 0 for the leading or trailing zeros.
Key Check Required if you selected key for the Call Ind column.

Specify the symbol (i.e., object type) that is used to call for the validation.

Length Data Specify the length of the field.
Lookup Code Select the lookup, if any, to associate with this field.
Max Val Required if you selected minmax for the Set Ind column. Specify the maximum value against which to validate the user entries.
Min Val Required if you selected minmax for the Set Ind column. Specify the minimum value against which to validate the user entries.
Read Only Specify whether the field is read-only. In this case, the user cannot specify a value.
Required Specify whether the field is required. In this case, the user must specify a value.
Search Ind Specify whether the custom field should be visible in the Search forms. The choices are:
  • Not Searchable
  • Searchable
  • Searchable - Using SubCode

The Searchable - Using SubCode choice applies only to fields that have sub-coded validation entries.

Parameters (TPALL) are one example of sub-coded validation entries. For more information, see the Infor PLM for Process User Guide.

Search Style

Specify the format for the searchable column. (This column is not relevant if the Search Ind value is Not Searchable.)

The choices are:

  • Standard
  • Range
  • Multi-Select

    The Standard choice formats the searchable column as a text box, a drop-list, or a date calendar.

    The Range choice shows a text box for a Min value and a text box for a Max value.

    The Multi-Select choice shows a multi-select text box. The ‘OR’ logic is used to search for this criteria.

Set Ind Specify whether the column requires an enumerated list value, a range of values, or neither.
Type Data Specify the data type. The choices are: integer, long, double, date, string, auto descrip, and auto long.

For attribute columns only: You can change the data type to a string even if the attribute column already has data.
Validation Code

Read only. This code is assigned by Optiva.

Validation Rec Fmt

Read only. Shows the recommended format for the validation code.

Validation Subcode Read only. This value is assigned by Optiva.
