Toolbar buttons

Change Criteria

This button is available for selection after you click Find Levels.

When you click Change Criteria, the Result grid is cleared. Now, you can specify new criteria in the Ingredient Replace page.

Find Levels

When you click Find Levels, all formulas that consume the old ingredient (and all formulas that consume those formulas) are displayed in the Result grid.

Now, you cannot make any changes in the Ingredient Replace page. Only the Replace and Change Criteria buttons are available for selection.

Replace

Click Replace to replace the ingredients according to the criteria that you specified in the Main tab. The results are displayed in the Result tab. The Ingredient Replace page, including the toolbar, become read-only.

If no replacement occurs, you can adjust your criteria in the Main tab.

Save As

This button is available for selection only if you have the appropriate Form Security. This function copies the criteria and the formulas that you specified on the Main tab to a new Ingredient Replace code.

The data in the Results grid is not copied.

Main tab

Old Material/New Material
Specify the ingredients that you wish to replace. The ingredients can be an item, raw material, instruction, packaging component, or a sub-formula.
  • The old material is the original ingredient that you wish to replace.

  • The new material is the ingredient that is replacing the original ingredient.

Create New Formulas

Select this check box to create a new formula instead of overwriting the existing formula(s). Then, select a Create Rule method.

Ratio

Specify the percentage of the new ingredient that is used to replace 100% of the old ingredient.

Ratios apply only to the formula where the material or sub-formula is directly consumed. Any levels that are higher than the original point of entry for the material or sub-formula use the ratio of 100%.

Example: The replacement ingredient for your formula is more concentrated than the old ingredient. Your research indicates that 85% of the new ingredient is equivalent to 100% of the old ingredient. Enter 85 in this field.

Create Rule

When you select the Create New Formulas check box, select a rule from this drop-list. The value choices are defined in the C_INGREDREPLACERULE enumerated list.

Retain Original Yield

Select this check box to rescale the formula so that the yield is the same as the original formula. This check box applies only to the first level of formulas in the hierarchy.

When you clear this check box, the yield is recalculated for any formulas where the replacement is not at 100% of the original material or sub-formula.

Comment

Enter historical or contextual information about the reason for the replacement. When the replacement occurs, this comment is added to the new formula.

To preserve the original comments for each formula, the Optiva administrator must specify a function code in the FormulaIngredReplace.CommentHistoryDocCode profile attribute.

Change All Levels

Select this check box to change those formulas that consume the formulas selected for Replace. This is in addition to changing those formulas selected for Replace that directly consume the Old Item/Formula.

Change All Levels can only be selected when Create New Formulas is checked. When Change All Levels is selected, here is the processing:

System first looks at the formulas in the Formulas grid to determine if any of these formulas directly consume the Old Item/Formula and make the necessary replacements.

This is considered Level 0 on the Results grid.

For Level 0 formulas that changed, the system then looks for any formulas that consume those formulas from Level 0.

This is considered Level 1 on the Results grid.

These Level 1 formulas are changed to now consume the new formulas from Level 0.

For Level 1 formulas that changed, the system then looks for any formulas that consume those formulas from Level 1. This is considered Level 2 on the Results grid.

These Level 2 formulas are changed to now consume the new formulas from Level 1 and so on.

The Quantities replaced are always those Formula Line Item Quantities in Mass UOM.

The Old Item/Formula selected is only replaced on those formulas from the Formulas grid that directly consume it (meaning level 0 formulas).

Security tab

This tab identifies who can access the object and the types of access privileges that are granted for the Owner, Group, and Role.

The Optiva administrator configures the default security for all objects of this type. You can specify the security for a specific object here. For example, you can assign the Owner full privileges (Read/Copy/Write/Delete), but partial or no access privileges to the Role and Group.

Formula tab

You must specify at least one formula on this tab. These formula(s) contain the ingredient that you wish to replace.

You can click Find Levels to see all of the formulas in the hierarchy that are going to be affected by the ingredient replacement.

When you click Search, the Formula Search page is displayed with the ingredient that you specified in the Old Ingredient field. After you run the search, you can select the search result rows and return them to the Ingredient Replace > Formula tab.

Result tab

When you click Replace, the results of the ingredient replacement are shown in this tab.

You can see the original formula, the new formula if you specified a Create Rule on the Main tab, the quantity of the original ingredient, and the quantity of the replacement ingredient.

If you chose to find all levels in the formula hierarchy, then those formulas and their levels are shown, too. Level 0 identifies the formula that directly consumes the replaced material or formula.
