Creation events

A creation event is the action taken to create an object. Rules have associated events that determine when the rules are used.

From the Object Explorer

A new object can be created from inside the Object Explorer.

From an Object page or form

Two object creation events can occur when the user is viewing the object form:

  • New
  • Save As (Copy)

From a reference to the object

Two object creation events can occur for objects on the References tab.

  • Object Page > References Tab > Create New Object button
  • Object Page > References Tab > Create From button

For example, you can create a copy of a formula reference for a specification by selecting it and selecting Create From.

The formula is created as a copy and added as a reference to the specification. This is the Create From As Copy event.

You can create several Rules and assign the same object and event type. That enables the user to select which rule to govern the object name and other properties.

Rules consist of Auto Code Segments and Copy Methods and can be assigned to one or more object creation events.
