How does Optiva determine which language to use for segment description?

The language in which the segment description is displayed is determined by the Session Language.

Example

The browser culture, FR-FR, is in the Optiva Language form. Therefore, the Session Language is the browser culture and the segment description is displayed in FR-FR if it is configured; else it defaults segment description in the system Default Language.

What happens if the browser culture is not in the Optiva Language form? Then, the Session Language is the language that most closely matches the browser culture. In this example, FR-CA is the first language that is closest to the browser language FR. Therefore, the segment description is displayed in FR-CA if it is configured; else it defaults segment description in the system Default Language.

Suppose the browser culture (e.g., IT-IT) and browser language (e.g., IT) are not in the Optiva Language form. Then, the next language in the browser is compared to the Language form.

If the prior steps fail to determine the Session Language, then the default language is used. The default language is specified by the DEFAULTLANGUAGE profile attribute. If you change the profile value, you must include the language code and the region.
