Specifying sources for parameter values from other objects

The data for an item’s parameter can come from different sources, for example:

  • An analysis object
  • Another item
  • Vendor’s specification
  • A formula

Because data from some sources is more reliable and accurate than from other sources, it is important to track the source. In Optiva, the source can be entered as part of the data. Users can change the values for an item’s parameter values to those of a source object’s. The source object ID is stored as part of the item data.

The source data rolls up to the formula level where it is available for label generation.
