Creating an ingredient statement rule

The Ingredient Statement Rule provides the logic that is used to generate the preview text for the ingredient statement. Each statement is associated with a single rule, so you can make the rules specific to a formula.

  1. Open the Ingredient Statement Rule form.
  2. Specify the general properties.
    Case Indicator

Case in which the ingredient statement is printed. The case can be uppercase, lowercase, or initial cap.

    Text Sort Order

This field controls how ingredients of equal quantity are sorted in the ingredient statement.

The primary sort order is controlled by the Quantity field. The secondary sort order is controlled by the column you designate in the Text Sort Order field.

Suppose you have two ingredients, butter and eggs, that have an equal quantity of 10. The item descriptions are “Sweet Butter” and “Eggs”. If you sort on “Item Description”, then Eggs are displayed before Sweet Butter in the ingredient statement.

    Type Indicator

This entry identifies the field, such as Item Description or Common Name, that is used to generate the statement text for an item, if there is no statement text defaulting from the Ingredient Statement Rule.
