Tracking genealogy

Genealogy is a history of the creation of versions of an object such as a formula or a project. The hierarchy shows the creation of one object from another.

  • Toolbar button for an object

The profile attribute, Genealogy.CollapseTree, controls the initial display of the tree hierarchy in the Genealogy dialog. When this profile is not defined or the value is 0, all of the tree nodes are expanded. This is the default behavior. When the value is 1, all of the tree nodes are collapsed into the top level node.

An example of sibling formulas is a developmental and production version that are the same except for scaling and instructions. Siblings can have no parent. Depending on how the administrator has configured the SubObjectLookup.NoParentLvl profile, "None" can be displayed at the top instead of a parent formula. Or, you might not see "None" and other sibling formulas even if there is no parent.

Current and inactive objects are displayed in genealogy; deleted objects do not. After a genealogy is established, it cannot be changed.
