Serial Number

If preassigned serial numbers are required, specify the Generate Quantity of preassigned numbers and click Generate to display the preassigned numbers in this field.

If existing (not preassigned) serial numbers are required, click Generate to start Filter-in-Place mode. Then enter any filter selection criteria in this field and click the Filter-in-Place toolbar button to display the selected serial numbers.

If new (not preassigned) serial numbers are required, enter the new serial numbers, or generate them automatically by clicking the Generate button. Any specified prefix will be added to the number for a total of up to 30 characters.

Note: Automatic serial number generation is available only if Expand S/N is selected on Inventory Parameters form .

When entering serial numbers into inventory through forms such as Miscellaneous Receipt or Purchase Order Receiving, you can enter a starting serial number before the system begins the generation process. After you click Generate, the system generates serial numbers until the Generate Qty is reached. These generated serial numbers display in the grid, where you can change them. Once you process the transaction, the system stores the generated serial numbers in the Serial master file.
