Global Planning Mode

In single-site planning mode, APS Planning regenerates the plan only at the current site. In global planning mode, APS Planning regenerates all plans, transfer supply orders, and transfer demand orders at all sites defined on the APS Sites and Alternative Management form. The manner in which each site is planned is determined by the Global Planning Mode setting and the Global Planning Priorities defined at the local site.

There are three Global Planning Modes.
  • Global Planning Mode: In Global Planning mode, each site will be planned in priority order. Demands for transferred items are planned at the supplying site when encountered at the appropriate point in the planning process.
  • Multiple Site Planning Mode: In Multiple Site Planning mode, each site will be planned in priority order. Demands for transferred items are planned using leadtime, with planned transfer orders replicated to the supplying site during planner post-processing. After all sites have been planned, the replicated transfer orders are planned incrementally.
  • Cross-Site Sequencing Mode: In Cross-Site Sequencing mode, demands across all sites are sequenced and planned in order based on the APS Order Priority rules and other parameters. Site priority is only used as a tie-breaking criteria. As with Global Planning mode, demands for transferred items are planned at the supplying site when encountered at the appropriate point in the planning process.
Note: Planning replication should only be enabled when using Multiple Site Planning mode. Cross-Site Sequencing mode is available only in alternative 0.
