Using the System Trace Utility
By default, a system trace file is generated on the SQL Server. This typically requires administrator permissions to access. If you have appropriate permissions, the System Trace Utility form.
button is displayed on theTo run a trace:
- Open each form needed to reproduce the scenario for diagnosis.
- Open the System Trace Utility form.
- Click .
- Reproduce the scenario for diagnosis (without closing the System Trace Utility form).
- Return the to the System Trace Utility form.
- Click .
- Access the trace file.
- Email a compressed (zipped) version to technical support.
After the utility is run successfully, retrieve the trace file, compress it, and send it to the technical support contact.
Note: You can use the filter fields on the
Advanced tab to limit the
results of the trace file to specific values. Use the Running Traces grid on
the
Advanced tab to identify or
stop SQL traces that are already in process. For additional information
