Setting up WIP items for Process Manufacturing

WIP items are used for co-products and by-products; that is, when more than one item is produced from the batch. The WIP item collects all of the ingredient costs for the formula. Then, as you create the finished goods (co-products or by-products), you can allocate the costs to them.

To set up the WIP items:

  1. Set up the WIP item on the Items form. Make sure you include the U/M and, if the WIP item is used in food or other process-tracked formulas, ensure that Lot Tracking is turned on.
  2. On the Items form for the item, click Current Operations and set up at least one current operation associated with the item.
  3. On the Process Manufacturing Item Extensions form, create an item extension record for the WIP item.
