Importing a formula

You might have formulas stored in another application, and you want to add them to the SyteLine Process Manufacturing module. Rather than entering every field in the Formulas form manually for every formula, you can generate a spreadsheet with columns for the required formula data. You can then provide the values for your formulas in the spreadsheet, and then import the spreadsheet through the Process Manufacturing Formula Import form.

To import an existing formula:

  1. In the Process Manufacturing Formula Import form, right-click in the top left corner of the grid and select To Excel.
This generates a spreadsheet with columns for the required formula fields.
  2. Select Match Sequence of Columns in the Related Grid and click OK.
  3. Open the spreadsheet and use it as a template to enter your formula data. Add one row for each formula or formula version.
Use the field descriptions in Defining a formula as a guide.
  4. When you have all the data in your spreadsheet, select all the rows in your spreadsheet and copy them to the Windows clipboard.
  5. Open the Process Manufacturing Formula Import form.
  6. Click in the left-most cell of the first blank row in the form grid. Then select Edit > Paste Rows Append.
The formula data from your spreadsheet is copied into the grid.
  7. Click Validate Imported Data.
A log file with any validation errors is generated. Fix the errors in the log and revalidate.
  8. When there are no more validation errors, click Process Imported Records.
The imported records are displayed in the Process Manufacturing Formulas form.
