Formulas

In Process Manufacturing, you blend the components listed in a formula to make a specific amount of an item.

The formula is percentage-based; it determines the ratio of components (ingredients) to blend together, regardless of the batch size. Formulas can include advanced calculations such as solubility, loss factors, or loss constants.

The components in a formula can be measured in different types of units, but they must also have a common unit of measure (U/M) so that the application can convert every ingredient in the formula into that common U/M. For example, if a formula requires 100 pounds of flour + 50 gallons of sugar, you must provide a common unit of measure.
