Missing operation on routing or WIP item

When you set up a WIP or intermediate (routing) item through Process Manufacturing, the item must have at least one current operation set up. Formula ingredients do not require this, but anything that is manufactured requires it.

If the operation is missing, you could see these errors:

Form Message or symptom
Process Manufacturing Formulas - click Update WIP Cost BOM button
  • Confirmation message is not displayed
  • The oper_num entered cannot be null in jobmatl_mst INSERT rolled back
  • No Item BOM exists; Not one Current Operation exists for Item that has [item]
Process Manufacturing Create Production Batch No formula route specified for manufacturing spec formula_name

To correct the problem, find the item in the formula, either in the Route Item or WIP Item field. Right-click in the field and select Details to open the Items form for that item. See one of these topics to add the operation:
