Setting up U/M classes for Process Manufacturing

Use the Process Manufacturing Unit of Measure Classes form to set up U/M classes. Classes are used for categorization, which is helpful when you need to filter on similar classifications or for reporting.

If a group of similar items all have the same (multiple) units of measure, you can create a U/M class to associate these items.

For example, you might want to use the same U/M class for cooking oil, olive oil, water, and coconut oil, because they use the same units of measure. In the grid for each class, specify the different units of measure that apply to this class, for example, liters, milliliters, quarts and gallons.

Later, you can assign the U/M class to specific items in the Process Manufacturing Item Extension form, and you can specify the density and base U/M for each item. Then, amounts of the item can be automatically calculated in a formula using any of the units of measure that are listed in its U/M class.

  1. In the Process Manufacturing Unit of Measure Classes form, specify each class name and a description, for example, LIQUID.
  2. In the grid, add the different units of measure that apply to this class, for example, GAL, LITER, KG, etc.
  3. Save your changes.
